For a battery-powered Czech-made compact crane we have delivered a sophisticated control software including a remote control, a complete electric drive system, and also most of the hydraulic components.

The electric mini crane Scorpick Enter represents a truly innovative machine thanks to its combination of ingenious "pick & carry" design and a highly efficient electric drive.

The proven design in electric version

The Scorpick Enter mini crane is the successor of a diesel-powered model Scorpion. Replacing the combustion engine with electric motors resulted in a number of significant improvements.

The most crucial advantages include better machine control, expansion of its working environments to interiors, commercial spaces, clean environments, and other noise and emission-limited areas, and last but not least, dramatic reduction of operating and maintenance costs.

Moreover, a typical day of mobile crane at a work site involves quite a lot of idle time, during which the operator is waiting for various preparatory tasks. From this point of view, the electric drive is also a huge plus, as the machine does not produce any unwanted noise or air pollution at the construction site or workplace.

When the spider can’t keep up, call Scorpick

The machine is designed as a „pick & carry“ crane, allowing operator to freely manipulate and move with the suspended load, whether it is a large-format window or any other heavy object that needs to be fixed or relocated.

Compared to the more common „spider“ cranes, which require anchoring for the load manipulation, working with a pick & carry machine is much faster, resulting in notably higher overall productivity.

In addition to moving suspended loads, it is also possible to lift up the entire trailer carrying the cargo and move it to a location which can be inaccessible to cars or vans. Scorpick can therefore work effortlessly not only on regular construction sites, but also in urban areas, city centres, shopping galleries, gardens and courtyards, parks, vestibules, or historical sites (castles, palaces, etc.).

Apart from the quiet and emission-free operation, the machine’s overall environmental friendliness is also enhanced by its compact dimensions, non-marking tracks, as well as its low overall weight (2 035 kg) and low track point pressure (36 kg/dm2).

A modern and efficient machine for the 21st century

As the main technology partner of the manufacturer, Czech company KOVO-VŮJTEK, we had the opportunity of being involved in the development of the machine from the earliest stages. Apart from the decision to replace the combustion engine with electric drivetrain, powered by two 5 kWh Vanguard lithium batteries, it was agreed that the electric Scoprick will only be controlled by a radio remote control.

As a result, we designed a customized full-featured radio remote control, which includes all basic and advanced functions, and at the same time offers high level of operator safety. The Danfoss IK3 console box features a color display with the key operating parameters, two joysticks, two paddles, and several other toggle and rotary switches. The remote control is an integral part of the whole CAN-bus control system that we developed using the versatile Danfoss PLUS+1 software platform.

The overall battery capacity of 10 kWh is more than sufficient for the machine’s standard working shifts. Considering a typical daily work load, it provides enough power for two or more working days. The electric motors are used not only for the machine’s travel but also to power the working hydraulics, controlled by the PVG 32 proportional valve that we also delivered.

Another major advantage of the drive system is an integrated on-board charger and an industry-standard charging socket Phoenix Contact that allows the machine to be quickly recharged at any public EV charging station.

Besides all of the advantages mentioned, another great benefit of the electric drive is the possibility to utilize a very sensitive dosing of power. This allowed us to fine-tune the precision of the control to the maximum level, which is crucial for the handling of large-format glass panels and placing them with a millimetre accuracy.

Scorpick Enter represents a perfect example of successful integration of all system solution categories that we offer to customers – software & electronics, electric drive, and hydraulics.

Moreover, it is a machine that, thanks to its ingenious design, easy and comfortable control, environmental friendliness, and low operating and maintenance costs, is capable of confidently meeting the demanding requirements of the current global construction equipment market.

„I am very proud of the result we have achieved with experts from Technotrade working on this machine. I believe that thanks to its innovative design, build quality, and user-friendly control, the Scorpick Enter has the potential to set a new standard for the entire segment of compact mobile cranes.

I highly value our long-term cooperation with Technotrade, especially because we have been able to come up with a number of significant improvements of the machines we build.“
