Working as a system integrator, we designed a steer-by-wire solution, hydraulic system and control software for a forestry skidder, including two color displays with advanced graphic interface to increase operator comfort.
A traditional workhorse in a modern design
The compact forestry tractor is the smallest model in the portfolio of LKT, the traditional Slovakian manufacturer, yet it stands out as one of its most advanced in terms of technology. It is the first machine in the entire product line to undergo a complete modernization, meeting the most demanding requirements for performance and control.
Our task was to digitize and simplify the entire system of the machine as much as possible. Additionally, in collaboration with the manufacturer, we contributed to rearranging the elements in the cabin, placing maximum emphasis on ergonomics and operator comfort.
In order to be able to provide the operator with a range of customizable settings and advanced functions, we we designed and delivered a sophisticated CAN-bus control software for the skidder. Two color displays in the cabin, for which we developed a user-friendly graphical interface, serve as the control hubs for these functions.
In addition to modern control elements, we also integrated a telematics unit into the system. This allows owner or operator of the machine to monitor its key parameters and data, facilitating easy access to machine diagnostics or remote system updates.
Apart from the control system and electronics, we also supplied an efficient hydrostatic drive solution for the machine. This system is composed of products from Danfoss Power Solutions, including hydraulic pumps, hydraulic motors, and PVG proportional valves.
